Serendipity Arts Festival 2019
Serendipity Arts Festival (SAF) is one of the largest multi-disciplinary arts initiatives in the South Asian region, organised by Serendipity Arts Foundation. Committed to innovation and creativity, the aim of the Foundation is to support practice and research in the arts, as well as to promote sustainability and education in the field through a range of cultural and collaborative initiatives. The festival itself, held once a year in Panaji, Goa, spans the visual, performing and culinary arts, whilst exploring genres with film, live arts, literature and fashion.
My engagement with Serendipity Arts Foundation began as an internship back in 2017, and after the completion of my undergraduation, I joined them as a full-time Graphic & Interaction Designer. Up till 2019, the festival had a different design language each year and at the time of my joining, ideas for a fresh design language in collaboration with Codesign were already congealing and taking form.
The language made by Codesign tapped into the openness, joyousness and warmth of the SAF experience to establish the Festival identity as a sum total of experiences. Fluid text, attention grabbing sun-bursts and tetris like boxes in colours that play together characterised the spirit of this design language. Being the designer at the Foundation’s end, my task was to work with the design language before it had attained a concrete form. I had to experiment with it and still imbue it with a consistency enough to factor in a recall value in the minds of the general public. I adapted, implemented and aestheticised the language according to programming requirements and produced a range of creatives. I worked alongside Apoorva Kapur, who handled the Ads and Social Media, and Veer Misra who handled the Illustrations and Posters.

Project / Processes is a Harper Design publication in collaboration with Serendipity Arts Foundation that documents and provides critical insights into the exhibition and performance projects curated for the festival. I designed these books as part of my engagement with SAF in 2017 first. The edition showcased here are the books from the 2019 edition.
